About Who Am I? / Where Am I?

In Who Am I? / Where Am I?, clues about a Bible person or place appear one at a time. The first clue is the hardest and the clues get easier, so you decide whether to risk an early guess or wait for more help.

The host chooses whether to play Who Am I? (people) or Where Am I? (places), how many rounds to play, and how many seconds each clue stays up before the next one appears.

Ages
Roughly Year 5 and up. It works well for mixed ages because the later clues are easier.
Group size
Solo, or up to 30 players in a room, all seeing the same clues at the same moment.
Round length
Each round lasts only a few clues. A game of several rounds takes around 5-10 minutes.

Tips for teachers and leaders

  • Explain the scoring trade-off before you start: guessing on the hardest clue earns 30 points, the middle clue 20 and the easiest clue 10.
  • A wrong guess scores nothing and costs nothing, so encourage hesitant students to have a go.
  • Run a People round after studying a character, or a Places round during a unit on the geography of the Bible.
  • Spelling matters for answers, but capital letters and a leading "the" don't.

Ways to vary it

  • Whole-class hands up: play on one screen and have students write guesses on mini whiteboards.
  • Theme rounds: choose People or Places to match your current unit.
  • Clue writing: students write their own three clues for a Bible person and test them on a partner.
